The artistic and utilitarian man embodiments, the cultures that shape their lives, the same characteristics of the surrounding nature, all these factors shape our human essence. Therefore traveling contributes both to the understanding of what and who we are.
I just finished, along with my wife, a unique journey of 20 days, one whose real target was the heart. Nothing like those endless adventures of Richard Burton (not the explorer Elizabeth Taylor, the first Burton) in Arabia and Africa, but a little trip that would qualify as routine in the world today, a very compact world in which it is possible Caracas breakfast, lunch and dinner in New York in Madrid. However, it has been for me a particularly spiritual dimension.
Since last year and during the first months of this year I do a work of political science research for which I received a sum of money that was not planned in my "RB" income. The sum was enough to - for example - to buy a great new bed, something important at our age, or to make a trip, two of the projects we had some time in gestation. After a thorough seafood buffet san mateo analysis of about ten minutes we decided on the trip.
I explained what made possible seafood buffet san mateo our trip because I do not think it's the same to make a trip based on a position of significant affluence to make a trip due to unexpected income, which in the oil world call a "windfall". In the first case travel can often turn into a routine experience. In the second case has the potential to become a unique experience.
We have returned from our trip to relax in our old bed but, yes, very enriched by the experience. The first segment was constituted by an Atlantic crossing, from Brooklyn to Southampton, England, in the "Queen Mary 2" and the second half by a visit to bottom of one of the most beautiful and picturesque cities in the world, Madrid. They were really two trips in one, given the very different characteristics of both segments. I do not pretend to give a very detailed description of both trips but some general impressions, accompanied by reflections on what it has meant to me, both in purely anthropological terms as spiritual (actually you can not tell where the one ends and where the other begins).
The departure of our transatlantic trip coincided with the imminent arrival of Hurricane SANDY New York, which gave his home the appearance of a mini adventure. We could travel to NYC? We could do it on the train, which hours later would be paralyzed. We had bought our tickets well in advance, so we paid only $ 49 each. In 3 hours we were in NYC and we went to Penn Station to Brooklyn taxi, an additional seafood buffet san mateo half hour. The terminal area of Brooklyn where he anchored the Queen Mary 2 I was impressed by his ugliness and neglect and offered a contrast to the imposing profile of the boat we were going to address. The intensity of the wind had increased and the city awaited the arrival of SANDY on hours. The taxi dropped us at the doors of the terminal and Cunard staff took care of our two suitcases. The'd see again two hours later in our cabin.
The first pleasant experience we had was the ability to go from terminal to ship. We arrived early at about one in the afternoon. Immigration staff stamped our passports seafood buffet san mateo and we took a single photo (for possible identification of the bodies?). CUNARD personnel assigned us an eCard to each, which serve to make any purchases or expenses, since inside the boat ineffective (except Casino) is handled. The whole process would take no more than about 30 minutes, despite the long line of passengers who had already arrived. We walked a long ironed giving two or three turns around and suddenly ... .. we are in the Queen Mary 2, and outside the United States.
I was leaving a less traumatic country I've ever experienced. I thought at that moment, seeing the row of staff, immaculate uniform, giving us a smiling welcome: "Who would have thought that Jesus the son of Mary would someday seafood buffet san mateo aboard the Queen Mary 2? ". As I wish they were here with us. Somehow they were, if it is true that every human being is the sum of their ancestors and that ontogeny recapitulates, in some magical way, phylogeny. Maybe someday I pu
